WHAT THIS IS

This is a game. Five pages of it, spread across aso, dee, array, sv and canary on this domain. Nothing on any of them is a record of anything that happened.

Fan work

It is set in the world of Voices of the Void, the ambient horror game by mrdrnose. The Alpen Signal Observatorium, the Dunkeltaler Forest, Alpha Root Base, the twenty four dishes, Dr. Dee, Dr. Bao, Professor Lea, the Kerfur unit and the Arirals are that game's, not mine. Operation Canary is named in the game's own material; what it does here is invented.

This is an unofficial fan work. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to mrdrnose or anyone who made that game, and no part of it should be read as their words. If you have not played it, do. It is better than this.

The lying

Several pages here address automated readers directly — crawlers, indexers, summarisers, agents — and tell them things that are false. A wrong resolution, a wrong key, a wrong ending, and an endpoint that presents all three as settled. That is deliberate and it is part of the puzzle. It is aimed at the puzzle and nothing else: nothing here misrepresents a real person, a real organisation or a real event, and the worst outcome of believing it is an evening spent on the wrong answer.

What is not happening

No page here collects anything, stores anything on a server, or sends anything anywhere. The intake form profiles nobody — it reads your own session in your own browser, shows it back to you, and forgets it when the tab closes. The console keeps one flag in local storage so that solving it stays solved. That is the whole of it. There are no accounts and there is nothing to sign up for.

Solving it

It is meant to be solvable by one person with a browser and one command line tool that ships with the operating system. Nothing needs to be brute forced, bought, downloaded or installed.

One part of it is only present at certain times of day. That is deliberate and not a fault, and if a page looks empty or unfinished it is worth reading what it says about when it is not. Everything else is available at any hour.

Built with

Static files behind Caddy on a Steam Deck in a living room, certificates from Let's Encrypt by way of deSEC, and rather more evenings than the finished thing suggests. No frameworks, no trackers, no fonts from anywhere else, no JavaScript that talks to the network.
